First of all, the quest to complete a Gauntlet Stage (formerly Daily Challenge, I'm really going to stop calling it by its old name soon I promise) -- that quest has been returned! It was only gone for a couple of days, but I bet you missed it! Ha!
So, a new quest has been added, as you can see in your quest sidebar -- and it gives you a special prize, a Sniper Award! Whatever player challenge is currently active with the HIGHEST WAGER will be the target of the quest. If there is a tie, it will just pick one of them. So you will see lots of HIGH GOLD challenges to defeat there (300g is currently the max wager on player challenges so you will see that often). If there aren't any 300g player challenges active, it will use the next highest one.
Sniper Awards show up on your profile page. They show up on the Ladder (both yearly and All-Time). And there are 5 new achievements, with fantastic gold awards for collecting sniper awards, if you are good enough to do it!. There are still the old achievements for just defeating player challenges in general, but only beating the best of the best challenges can you earn sniper awards!

EDIT: By the way, if you do NOT see the quest in the sidebar that says "Beat so-and-so's challenge on [This Game] (score at least X points)" -- then that means that YOUR CHALLENGE is current the top / best / hardest! Everyone else will see it as an available quest, but if you don't see it, that's because you are the one player who has the hardest challenge right now. At the time of this writing, the hardest quest is Yetisports 3: Bloody Seal Bounce (score at least 1,075 points) by jk5goldbug101. So sorry jk5goldbug101, you cannot see the new quest right now but everyone else will see it. When your challenge expires, or if someone beats it and earns a sniper award, then it will change to a different one.
