Haplo...or anyone. I have noticed something new. Games now have something new where players may "like" them to Facebook or "tweet them to Twitter.
But my browser now contains "Facebook" as an entry whenever I visit PIOTW. I mean ANY PIOTW page. A player's profile page, the Top Players page. Any PIOTW page.
I don't use Facebook or Twitter. I have nothing against Facebook or Twitter. I just don't use them.
So why does Facebook now show as an entry on my browser? It's not in my browser history. It's just there when I go forward or backward with my browser.
So why Facebook? Why not Twitter?
Not a complaint. Just curious.

Oh, thanks for the update, Rock. Maybe I will check it out and get gold too.

I didn't know what to expect with FB. I admit that I originally joined FB just for the few extra Gold and XP on PIOTW. But after joining FB I explored it. It is more than I imagined. You can make as little or as much out of it as you want. Just the way we do here at PIOTW. You "customize" it to your own liking and preferences.
I found my music there. My foods. My stores. Whatever. Just my interests. My friends and family. So I now follow just what I want to follow.
It's just my own opinion, but if you have the time to fool with it...to customize it and then tweak it...it's worth the efforts. I have the time...I'm retired. But if you don't have the time, you really won't get that much out of it.
Yes, there's games there too. But I have NEVER played games there. I PROMOTE PlayItOnTheWeb.com there. My game HOME is PLAY IT ON THE WEB!!!

I guess I'll add my two cents for what it is worth... I do not do the social media scene either, Toast, not FB nor
Twitter nor any of the others out there. Honestly, I do not understand the fascination with it. But, to each his own. I'm not against it per se, I guess I just don't get it or have a need to do it.

Sorry Rock, I still refuse to conform to the world of FB. I just cant bare the notion of it. None the less im sure you'll make many a new FB connection now you've joined =] At least you get a few extra XP from it.

But as you know, i'd rather nuke FB headquarters and send it into oblivion. Its a wretched heathen place =P

I wish to change something. I started this in January. It is now September. Yes, I "DO" Facebook now. Does anyone else here also do Facebook? If anyone else here on PIOTW also does Facebook, PLEASE send me a "message" here on PIOTW and I will tell you how to find me on Facebook and hopefully we can be "friends" on Facebook too.
I've just been on Facebook for 6-8 weeks now so I'm still learning it.

But I will say one good thing about this. PIOTW is now twice as fast since this started happening.

My browser (IE) has a back and forward button. If you go to PIOTW and then go to 3 more PIOTW pages, you can go to the back or forward button and then go backwards 1, 2 or 3 pages. But I can't do that now. This "Facebook" entry now says it is between pages 1 and 2 or 2 and 3 (whichever the case may be at the time. The specific Facebook URL is http://www.facebook.com/dialog/oauth?ap...)
But when I look in my history, it correctly shows that I did not visit Facebook. The Facebook ebtry is only shown on my back/forward buttons.
As soon as I log into PIOTW (which is ALWAYS my profile page), this Facebook entry shows and stays there until I leave PIOTW.

I don't quite understand. I think you are saying it is affecting your browser history? Any way you can provide a screenshot? As I'm not quite sure what you mean.
