Posted - 08/14/2011 : 23:36:31 I have been thinking about this for some time. But I was just wondering if we could have some kind of a listing of our current top 10 oldest players. No, I don't mean by age. I mean the top 10 current players who are still active. Of course there are vacations, illnesses, etc. so they don't need to be here on a daily basis. Or even a top 5 list. Maybe we could even give them rankings. |

Posted - 09/13/2011 : 12:16:54 Thanks Haplo. This answers a lot of questions that I had. Prior to this listing, besides Haplo being the oldest, my findings had Jk5fireflys as the next oldest. I was way off. |

Posted - 09/13/2011 : 11:41:02 I added a new block to the Top Players page showing this information (Oldest Active Players).
Adding some special indicator to the usernames sounds interesting, but I'm not sure asterisks would work (even though that's a great idea and would be very noticeable) only because some of the places on the site where usernames appear might overflow or wrap weirdly because of the extra length if usernames were made longer by putting asterisks on them. But I hate to just dismiss that because it's really a great idea. Hmmmm...
In case you don't feel like clicking over to the top players page, here is how it appears right now (obviously the one on the top players page will constantly update, this is just a snapshot):
quote:
1042 days haplo
950 days allenmcalister
922 days ace7
887 days lynnette23
769 days tonydandd
746 days rocky99
721 days fgholdson
719 days anticorp
693 days gypsywoman
It is set so that it only considers players who have logged on within the last 30 days. |

Posted - 08/17/2011 : 17:45:30 There already are levels in place on this site but they do not acurately reflect the amount of time a player has on this site. The current levels in place reflect the amount of activity a player has. So far, the "oldest" player that I have found on this site joined on December of 2009 and is still active. It is older players like that who deserve some sort of special recognition. |

Posted - 08/17/2011 : 01:42:20 I like your ideas too Melglora. These are my own ideas but I believe that a player should retain their ststus (of age rankings) but should be removed from any "status ranking" listings after 2 weeeks of being inactive. I don't think any Gold points should be awarded for this as this is just a status type thing. So possibly some other type of awards as you suggested should be awarded. I also think a player's "age status / ranking" should be easily seen on the player's listings maybe as you noted by special color or perhaps a special icon or even simply by the addition of stars (asterisks - * or ** or *** etc) next to the player's names. |

Posted - 08/16/2011 : 20:34:15 I have been a player on this site for 1 year and 2 months and in that time I have only missed 1 day due to illness. |

Posted - 08/16/2011 : 06:43:03 Sounds interesting, how long should it be before a player is declared inactive? 3 months? 6 maybe? Perhaps there should be an award for being on the site for a year and then something else for 2 years. Or some elevated status similar to the glowing player name, like a special colour for it or something else instantly recognisable. |
